GETTING TO PORTO

Porto is easily reachable by plane. Francisco Sá Carneiro airport is a very well connected international airport with daily flights to the major European cities and a few intercontinental direct connections.

Getting to the Conference Venue from the Airport

By metro

Getting to the conference venue by metro is convenient, fast and cheap. Metro do Porto operates daily from 06:00 – 01:00. The Andante ticket needed for this journey can be purchased at any of the automatic ticket machines in the Metro station – occasional ticket. At the airport metro station you need to buy “Andante” card and then charge it with a Z4 title (2€). The purple line (E) will connect you to “Trindade” station – it will take you 27 minutes (15 stops). At “Trindade” station you will need to change to the yellow line (D). Exit at the “IPO” station (10 minutes from “Trindade” to “IPO”) and go straight on following the Rua do Dr. Plácido da Costa (Dr. Plácido da Costa Street). At the end of this road, cross over onto the Rua do Dr. Roberto Frias and the Faculty of Engineering from the University of Porto will be in front of you. It is a 10 minutes’ walk (Google Maps). 

By taxi/uber

Another option is to take a Taxi, which costs around 20€ from the airport.

Available 24 hours a day from clearly signposted taxi ranks throughout the city or by phone Most taxis have a capacity of 4 passengers, however there are also 8 passenger taxis available. Every taxi has a meter indicating the cost of your journey, which is to be paid at the end of the trip. The receipt is compulsory. Tariff charges are posted on the window of the rear door, on the left side of the taxi.You can also use Uber, which allows you to travel at a lighter rate.
